Mature Height/spread: 60 – 200 ft. high/ 20 ft. spread in ideal conditions. White Fir has slow to medium growth rate.

Soil / Climate: Prefers well drained soils but tolerant of most climates and city conditions. Less fussy about soil moisture than other Abies species, Full sun. Tolerable of heat and winter cold.

Notes: White fir has long, flat, bluish green needles, 2 to 3 inches long. Buds in early spring. It’s wood is soft and knotty. Cylindrical brown cones 4-5 inches long. A fir native to the mountains of western North America. Easily transplanted. White fir is widely planted as an ornamental tree in parks and larger gardens. White fir adds nice color to typical green winter foliage. It is popular as a Christmas tree. White fir can work reasonably well as a windbreak.

Wildlife: Used as cover for mammals and game birds. The seeds are eaten by squirrels and game birds.
