Other common names: sand cherry, Hansen's Bush Cherry

Mature Height: 4-7' shrub

Soil / Climate: Cold hardy, zones 4-8. Prefers loamy soils. Full sun only.

Notes: Silvery green foliage with white flowers. Purple-black, and sweet edible fruit suitable for home use. Fruits eaten fresh, dried, or processed as jellies and pies. Widely planted in rural areas for wildlife food and habitat. Fruits are relished by many songbirds. Nesting cover for a few species of songbirds. Makes good loafing and roosting cover for song and game birds. Browsed by deer.
