Mature Height: 10-50 ft.
Soil / Climate: Native in southern Arkansas, to Oklahoma and eastern Texas. Naturalized widely from New England and Michigan, south to Texas and Oregon. Also found in the Pacific Northwest.
Notes: leaves turn bright yellow in fall, thorny branches, often used as hedge, bears inedible round fruit 3-5" in diameter. Both male and female plants are needed to produce fruit.
